Sunrise to Sunrise by Hyatt Centric: 24 Hours Exploring New York
A couple months ago I received an invitation, it read, “Can you hang out with some creatives who are visiting NYC and exploring all the cities secret treasures and perhaps snap a few photos during the day?” (best invite ever).
The "Sunrise To Sunrise" initiative is meant to draw attention to how many of us like to travel these days, skip the all-inclusive resorts and take us to the heart of a great city and let us loose, giving us a comfy room where we can fall into a good nights sleep after a long day of adventure. The new fleet of hotels are called Hyatt Centric and they understand the way many of us feel.
Since I'm a local, I joined Hyatt Centric, Passion Passport and Jedidiah Jenkins at sunrise to help guide their 24 hours in NYC. We started by...
Catching the sunrise from an East River Ferry boat as we crossed from Manhattan to Brooklyn, we stomped around Dumbo and it's awesome Brooklyn Bridge Park, crossed the Brooklyn Bridge by foot, headed to Chinatown and ate at one of the oldest dumpling restaurants in the city Nom Wah Tea Parlor, walked the Highline, had beer and sausage at Paulaner, found out I wasn't as good of a ping pong player as I thought at SPiN, had chilled Russian vodka and listened to live music at Russian Vodka Room, AND then attended an intimate performance by Jason Derulo at the Hyatt Centric Times Square.
Thanks to all my new friends who I met during this day, Jedidiah Jenkins, all the inspiring travelers of Passion Passport and Hyatt Centric Times Square for hosting us. And because there's so much to see in NYC, check out some of my additional picks for my favorite places in the city below:
Scarr's - LES pizza that looks like an old school city pizza slice joint - mill their own flour, hand-make all ingredients, vegan options, great music, young cool owners, all-natural wines
City Bakery - noted as the city's best hot chocolate, it comes with a massive marshmallow - but it's the pretzel croissant that has me obsessed.
Wildair - delicious natural wines list and clever plates, unfussy but refined and so good, a chefs hangout.
Cha Cha Matcha - the new coffee hotspot except they serve matcha, the iced coconut matcha is your new obsession.
The Bowery Market - outdoor food court with the city's best quick food restaurants. Lively and hip.
ABC Home - you'll be transported 10 fold, this beautiful curated 6 story department store is unlike any other in the world.
